Why was the dragonborn being executed
However, the problem is that in the beginning the dragonborn was about to be executed by the empire. I feel that the intro gives me more incentive to go stormcloak and it makes more sense story wise. So why would the dragonborn side with the empire after all that?
I like to do another imperial playthrough so i wont have to feel bad about baulgruff and whiterun but that damn helgen intro off with your head execution always bothered me. It dosent help that the opening sequnece mod that restored cut dialouge makes me more attached to the stormcloaks The other solution for me is to get the alternate start mod to avoid that execution sequence, or just join the stormcloaks and write off the battle of whiterun as adding more drama to the story, but i dunno, i just cant buy it that DB would easily forgive the empire Last edited by Firehawk01 ; 4 Nov, am.
Showing 1 - 15 of comments. It depends on the dragonborn in question. During my first playthrough i was an imperial. I just follow hadvar as i didnt see the stormcloak dude. My reasoning was: I am fleeing from a dragon, This soldier is helping me.
I never blamed the empire for the action of a capitan. I only join the stormcloak once for experiance reasons Not everyone wants revenge on the empire because one officer in said empire broke the rules and wanted you behead.
If you follow the stormcloak dude you can have your revenge right at the start of the game. As for why my dragonborn useally side with the empire? If you not a nord life under ulfric reign will be unpleasent for you and your offspring.
The empire might be a corrupt dying carcess but i take it over my way or the high way stormcloaks. Seriously the stormcloaks are Buttholes supreme. They want skyrim for the nords. Ulfric only approve of the nordic lifestyle which in my experiance is fighting, drinking and being an butthole.
Why would i support a faction that goes against my value's? I dont hate the empire. I hate stupid people see: criminals The dragonborn personality if what the player makes of it. Why your dragonborn would hate the empire? If Akatosh didn't know, it would've been a little too close call.
I think Akatosh just effing around with Alduin on this one, provided that Alduin later realizes he actually saves his worst enemy to come. Had the main character died, had someone else become Dragonborn at Akatosh's will, I don't know.
I bet this would've happened. Oh, btw, Akatosh is Alduin. Akatosh transcends time. It isn't a thing to him. Even a hero's fate shouldn't be outside of his knowledge, even if it is outside the knowledge of the other gods. It wasn't the gods' decision to give the player a dragon's soul rather than a normal human soul - it was Akatosh's alone. That's his thing to do. At Helgen, you were already Dragonborn.
You've been dragonborn your whole life. It would be very odd if the master of all time didn't know beforehand that you would survive Helgen, and just sort of took a chance on it. Speaking of hero status, who decides that? The godhead? Is Akatosh the godhead? So, I had a fun little discussion today regarding the Last Dragonborn and Helgen, and thought that, based on the research I had done on the matter, I could make a conclusion on what I think went down. Some people might consider my idea stupid, others might consider it common sense, I just feel the need to post it.
As we know thanks to Ralof's conversation with Gerdur in Riverwood, and Hadvar's conversation with the Dragonborn after escaping Helgen, Ulfric and his men were captured at Darkwater Crossing, a location in Eastmarch Hold, on the border with the Rift on the 15th of Last Seed, two days before the execution at Helgen. Tullius and his prisoners would have had to cross through Whiterun and Helgen in order to get to the road they were on, as the road from Helgen to the Rift is blocked by a bandit ambush at the start of the game, involving a rather big cut down tree which is in the direction of Fort Neugrad.
Not only do I base my theory off of the direction the cart was coming from, but also dialogue with Hadvar. As Hadvar says that he thought the General was originally taking them to Cyrodiil, but decided to turn around, as a result of Pale Pass being closed, I would presume as that is stated in the Bandit's Journal of the Bandit Chief in Fort Neugrad.
Considering the game starts at roughly 7 AM, and the Dragonborn was asleep at the start of the game, I consider it fair to say that the escort took a rest somewhere, as the road from Helgen to Cyrodiil only passes one fort, Fort Neugrad, I say this is where they must have spent the night.
All right, so now we have covered that the Stormcloaks were captured on the 15th of Last Seed in Eastmarch Hold, then went through Whiterun Hold, and Falkreath Hold, passing through Helgen in the direction of the gates to Cyrodiil, finding Pale Pass closed, and decided to rest at Fort Neugrad. Well, I think the Dragonborn was caught trying to cross the border from Cyrodiil into Skyrim illegally, presumably on the 16th of Last Seed, and was captured by either the prisoner escort, or patrolling Imperial Soldiers.
I presume it was crossed illegally, as I don't think it makes sense for people to be arrested for crossing the border legally, which I guess most others would also argue doesn't make sense. Anyway, Fort Neugrad, being the closest Imperial Fortress, would serve as their prison until further notice. Some people think the Dragonborn was captured at Darkwater Crossing, others believe the Dragonborn was captured crossing the border into Skyrim, like I do.
I will explain why I think that they were cought crossing the border. Regardless of whether you follow Hadvar or Ralof out of Helgen, you can ask both who the people were that you were on the cart with. Both will be a bit surprised at first, but will both point out how you were caught crossing the border. If pressed on who the Stormcloaks are, Ralof will act surprised thinking that ''surely even the people down in Cyrodiil'' have heard of the Stormcloaks, while Hadvar states that he assumes ''down in Cyrodiil people have other things to worry about.
But there is also a little bit more to this, as if one visits Legate Fasendil in the Rift Imperial Camp, they can ask him ''You're from Cyrodiil?
What's it like back home? That put aside though, for the sake of this theory we're assuming that the Dragonborn came from Cyrodiil and was captured for illegally crossing the border, and then imprisoned in Fort Neugrad. So, now to cut it at its simplest, we're currently on the 16th of Last Seed, 4E The Last Dragonborn and the captured Stormcloaks are all kept as prisoners in Fort Neugrad, the Stormcloaks for being in rebellion against the Empire, and the Dragonborn for illegally crossing the border.
The Stormcloaks are put on their prison cart and are being brought to Helgen to be executed for the rebels that they are How come? I think that when the soldiers were getting ready and were getting their Stormcloak prisoners to the cart, they accidentally also put the Dragonborn on the cart, not realizing the Dragonborn wasn't a Stormcloak. The reason I think this, is because when the Dragonborn arrives in Helgen and Hadvar asks who they are, they are not on the list Hadvar holds.
