Which moonshiner goes down
However, not every law enforcement interaction is caught by the Moonshiners cameras. In bonus footage, Tim Smith admitted that police officers tried to confront him about the show one evening when he was at home.
Tim kept his cool, though, and just invited them to come in and sit down since he was about to have dinner. If you watched season one of Moonshiners , you probably remember special agent Jesse Tate. If you pay attention, though, he never actually interacts with people like Tim and Tickle, the two of the main people on the series.
It turns out that Tate was misled about the nature of the show. He had no idea that it was going to be depicting moonshine manufacturing or distribution -- the Bureau had thought that Discovery was making a show about the history of moonshine and moonshine distribution in the state. Needless to say, the state of Virginia was not happy when the first season of Moonshiners aired on television. Tate also never appeared on the show again. Wonder why? In the same press release where they claimed to be misled about the nature of the show, Virginia authorities slammed Discovery for airing a false, misleading show.
After viewers kept asking why the state was allowing a crime to take place, Virginia said that the show was not actually portraying illegal moonshine, but was actually just a dramatization. Cast members of the show continue to say the opposite, though.
Tim learned that quickly once viewers realized what he did during the day. Most people think of firemen as upstanding members of society, so some viewers had issues with Tim going from one on-the-level job to operating something that was potentially harmful.
Viewers who have been with the show since the first season probably remember the occasional clip of Popcorn Sutton. Sutton was one of the most famous moonshiners, so famous, in fact, that he even had a few documentaries made about him. One of them won an Emmy. Sutton was lucky enough to mostly evade the law for decades, until he told an undercover officer that he had over nine hundred gallons of illegal moonshine that he was ready to sell.
He was charged with illegally distilling spirits shocker and possession of a handgun as a felon. Sutton pled guilty and was sentenced to eighteen months in prison the following January.
As long-time viewers of the show know, Tim no longer has to hide his moonshining. He is now proudly able to sell his moonshine legally, which he helps will aid him in his effort to preserve the traditions and culture surrounding moonshine.
As Tim was starting up his distillery, rumors flew that the Virginia ABC almost denied him a license to produce moonshine legally. Stephen Tickle, a fan favorite on the show, also admitted that he considered going into politics -- long before Donald Trump ever threw his hat into the ring for president. Back in , Tickle said in an interview with a local paper that he was considering running for a state office in southern Virginia.
They are the best locations in all other regards, well-located for most basic needs. The Heartlands location in particular is very distant from anywhere, meaning a long commute on horseback every time you want to do anything. After choosing your location, visit it to speak with Maggie Fike, the bootlegging veteran who helps build your business. She'll give you two missions to set it up for good; one to steal a distillery still, one to rescue Marcel, Maggie's cook, from bandits.
Bring a lot of ammo though; enemies tend to be very numerous in all Moonshiner-related content. Now you've got the equipment and the expert, you'll have to make some moonshine. Head downstairs in your shack to speak with Marcel and make the decisions about what kind of Moonshine he'll be brewing. The process goes through these stages:. If you flavoured your liquor, it'll always go for more, though certain people will pay extra for certain flavours.
You can check these under "today's requests" when looking at flavour options, requests from certain buyers who want specialized hooch. You can make any flavour, but it's best to pick one somebody is actively asking for. When Marcel is done, visit him again and choose the person who is offering the most money for your batch. Now the sale begins, in which you must drive a wagon to the buyer and avoid interference from Revenue Agents. The important thing to note in Moonshine Selling missions is that you're not just defending yourself from attack, but also the bottles of Moonshine in the wagon, and they are fragile.
Obviously gunfire can damage them, but so can poor driving, even just going too fast up a ramp. Your supply's health is measured by the blue icon at the top of the screen, and when you lose enough health, the bottles start breaking. You'll lose money every time a jug smashes, so you'll want to keep safe.
Remember to drive carefully and mind the bumps in the road to secure as much cash as possible. Gamers can assign a flavor to their moonshine while it is being distilled. People will, of course, want to choose the most profitable flavor if the ingredients are available. However, there are no mixed flavors of moonshine. Selecting a different flavor will replace the initial flavor that was chosen.
If the new flavor is worthless, players will miss out on a decent amount of cash when they sell the batch. Additionally, the ingredients for the initial flavor will be lost. Once a flavor is selected, it is best to stick with it. Madam Lazar is a one-stop-shop for all of the Moonshiner herbs. All of the herbs for sale are only one dollar each. Considering how much moonshine sells for, that is not a bad deal.
Gamers will want to pick up as many free herbs as they can while traversing the map, but Madam Lazar is always there just in case. It will often be worth the price to avoid having to fast travel, ride to the location of the herb, and search for it. In life and in RDO , stronger is better. The stronger the brew, the more money players will net with each sale. As people rank up in the role, they will have the opportunity to brew stronger batches quicker with the Master Distiller skill.
Stronger moonshine takes longer to distill, but pays a lot more. On the other hand, weak moonshine is quicker and grants more XP. After reaching rank 15, there is no reason to brew the weaker stuff. Choosing a good location for the shack is important because moonshine can be damaged during transport. Places like the Grizzlies have too many bumps and winds on the roads, and product will be damaged along the route.
Tall Trees and The Heartlands have the flattest roads , making deliveries a lot easier. Bayou Nwa is a great location too, although the foggy bayou is not exactly the most aesthetically pleasing location in RDO.
The Moonshiner business is a lot less profitable when playing with friends. Also, players will receive only half of the experience when completing deliveries or distilling. There are plenty of roles in the game that are better suited for co-op play.
Those completing Moonshiner tasks with friends are wasting their time. A prerequisite to becoming a Moonshiner is to be a Trader first. Upon reaching Trader Level 5, or completing a sell mission, the player is given the option to start Moonshining.
A useful tip to becoming a successful Moonshiner is becoming familiar with the Trader role since there are not many differences between the two.
Just like trading, the player collects ingredients and invests in materials to churn out some goods.
