I created a new kik account to see if it would help at all and to my surprise it did. On my previous account, the laggy one I had hundreds of contacts. I believe the reason it was so laggy was because of my amount of contacts and the kik app feels the need to load every contact and their profile picture. Until kik finds a way to have your contacts loaded only when you need, the best solution is to make a new account.
